THE BARTER PUZZLE

This is another very challenging activity that we done in our PPD sessions. This is more like Jigsaw puzzle game. But in here there is more additional rules for make the game too hard because this will play as teams.

What is Barter Puzzle Game?

As I said this is a team game. Before the game start each team will get a piece of a newspaper. Then all the teams get same amount of time to read the newspaper and to identify special characters and pictures in the page. After that each newspaper piece will be teared into tiny pieces. And some of those pieces will be mixed with the pieces of other teams. Then each team can get their teared pieces of the newspaper back to start the game. The goal is create the newspaper piece as it was before. The fastest team to do that will be the winners.

Rules
  • As I mentioned above some pieces will be mixed around in other groups. But It's up to the team to come up with a way to get those pieces back either through negotiating, trading, exchanging team members, etc. Whatever they decide to do, they must decide as a group.
  • Each team will be given same set amount of time.
The way we done that

First of all we started to match the pieces as we can and create the puzzle as possible. After several minutes we identified missing pieces of our puzzle and some of our members searched those missing pieces in other groups. In that period other members continued completing the puzzle. Then we discussed about the way we should get our missing pieces back. Each member presented their ideas and finally all the members agreed to one method. Making the puzzle was very tough. Somehow after the hard effect we managed to complete our puzzle.

STAND ON THE PAPER

This is another very interesting game. The game is simple. But it is challenging and really enjoyable.
Basically this game is all about managing the space we have and stand each member of the team on the paper. When the game goes on, paper will be teared to exactly the half of the previous size. The team who successful in many rounds or in other words the team who stand on the paper for longer time will be the winners.

Rules
  1.   At least one leg of each member should be in the paper area.
  2.   Teams can use any method.
  3.   After each round ,size of the paper will be minimized in to the half of the size compare to the previous round.
  4.   Each team will get the same duration of time. If a team unsuccessful after the given time they will eliminate from the game.
My Experience

After the game started our first task was find the correct method to balance ourselves. First round many teams were successful as well as mine. But after the few rounds it was really tough.
In the given time we had to think quickly and execute on our plan. Each member of the team done their best for win the contest.

LAVA RIVER GAME

This is the one of the best games we had in our PPD sessions. It was very interesting and challenging. We enjoyed it and learnt lot of things from this game. From now I will explain you about this game.
As the name suggest in this game you have to cross a lava river. The task is cross the river by using given cardboard tiles. Each member of the team should cross the river and then stand on the other side of the river. The quickest team to do that will be  the winners.

My Experience

First of all our teacher grouped us.Then she gave us 4 cardboard tiles. The size of a tile is just less than A4 paper. After that she marked the brinks of the river. Then she explained the rules.

      Rules
  1.   If anyone touch the lava river when the game goes, he/she will eliminate from the game.   Eliminated player can't support his/her team from anyhow.
  2.   When positioning a tile it should be in contact with a members body. You can't throw that and then touch that.
  3.   Members can go across the river finite number of time.
  4.   The team who cross the river in least time are the winners.
After the game started first we had to find a right method to use. We tried few different methods but we failed. We only managed to go half of the distance and then we were unable to continue. But finally we managed to find a most suitable and accurate method and executed on that. We were successful. But unfortunately we ended the game as the runners up.

Things I learnt
  •  Team play
  •  Quick decision making
  •  Problem solving
  •  Time management
  •  Accurate communication

WHAT I LEARNT FROM PPD!

" PPD ", before few months ago this words sensed nothing for us. Personally I thought this is only another subject that we have to learn. After participated the few PPD sessions, I understand I was really wrong. This is not just a subjects. It is a subject that include many good things for our life. The best thing about this subject is having various types of new experiences day by day. So I think many people enjoy learning in PPD sessions. Also I believe all of them have gained lot of good things to their life from PPD. In here I present you the things that I have learnt from PPD.
As I said I have learnt many things from PPD. But in here I have mentioned most important things among those.

  • Self Confidence
  • Team Work
  • Leadership
  • Decision Making
  • Time Management
  • Creative Thinking
  • Problem Solving

  •     Let's consider one by one.

    ·          Self Confidence

“A feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgement." This is the definition of the word “Self Confidence” that I found in the internet. This is not a hard word to search in the internet or the dictionary. Because everyone know what is self-confidence is. But the problem is, do we have a good self confidence? Or do we work on that to improve? Even though we already know the important of self-confidence to our lives most us don't work to improve that. "Self Confidence" is really important to our career as well as our day to day life. Many tasks can be easily achieve if you have a great self confidence. Also Self Confidence play major part of your personality. This PPD sessions really helped me to increase my self confidence. From the tasks we got in PPD sessions are the main reason for that. Now I feel much better than before specially when I face to big crowd.

    ·      Team Work

Team work is a something really useful for us when completing tasks. It is much easier to complete any task as a team than an individual. Because in a team you have more man power and more ideas. Also you can consider about a problem in many views when you working as a team. This something I learnt from many PPD sessions. We achieved many tasks we got in those session by working as a team. As a example "Paper Tower” exercise.

    Leadership
Leadership is something really important to all of us. Because sometimes we have to face to tasks as a team. So when you work as a team good leader is needed. If you have good leadership qualities you can take that responsibility and can reach to the success with your team. In those PPD sessions we had to work as a team many times. As a one occasion “Paper Tower”. In that exercise we understood who is a good leader and what is his/her role in the team. Also we understood real leader is not a person who giving commands for others. Along with leadership you have to gain another qualities to work as a leader. Like respect to others, positive optimism and etc. So finally I should say those PPD sessions helped me to understand real answers to “Who is a real leader?” .

    ·        Decision Making

I think this a one of the most important things that I have learnt from PPD. “Decision Making” is really important to our lives in every occasion. Because we have to face many questions when we following the success. A little mistake or in other words a little wrong decision can make your whole life or whole career unsuccessful. So it is really important to understand right decision making. Not only a right decision also it is important understand when it should take.

      Time Management

Time is a very vital thing. To better future we should be able to get the maximum value of the time. Also we should least the wastage of our time. To do that we must have good practice to manage time. Because the progress of time management mainly depend on the experiences we have on that. From every activity we done in our PPD sessions, we learnt many things and got many experiences about time management. Sometimes we didn’t complete our tasks within the time limitation because we didn’t plan properly. Those kinds of experiences really helped us to increase time management abilities of myself.

    ·        Creative Thinking

Creativity is something that really makes ourselves unique. Especially because we are in a really competitive world creativity is a must for our success. In our PPD sessions almost every task needed creative thinking. As an example, I remember once we have to dress ourselves using leaves, flowers, papers and etc. Also our teacher supported us by providing many new ideas and she explained us how to identify main points and then think creatively on those points. It really helped us to improve our creative thinking abilities.
    ·
    Problem Solving

In our day to day life we have to face many problems and challenges. Also we should find most suitable answers for those. In those points we have to really use our problem solving skills. Most important part of problem solving is identifying the problem correctly. Only then we can think about solutions. After that we can select the most suitable answer for the question. In many PPD sessions we had to solve problems. Sometimes we were finding solutions individually and sometimes as a team. All those experiences really helped us to increase my problem solving abilities.

Until now I presented you the things I have learnt from PPD sessions. Finally I should say PPD really helped me to make my life better than I was before.
